Fall Organizational Meeting

Last night we had a productive meeting of the MSUEEA minds--we scheduled our first "get to know each other" event for October 7th. We also established a presence in the English Club (Will is the Community Activities Coordinator). Thanks to all who made it to the meeting!

The Bozeman School District is looking for volunteers to tutor, converse, and generally help students in the adult literacy and ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) programs. If you are interested, contact is Mary at 585-8673. The announcement indicates that you can work this in around your schedule and training will be provided. This is a great way to learn about how you can help ESL students in your future classrooms...not to mention a resume builder!

Fingerprints Due Soon!

Hello Everyone!
Just wanted to post the current hours of operation for getting your fingerprints done at the Law and Justice Center. The Law and Justice Center is located at
615 S. 16th Avenue. Here is a link to the map if you need it: BOZEMAN LAW AND JUSTICE CENTER
You can get fingerprints done Monday through Friday from 3:00pm to 5:00pm.

I strongly suggest getting them done and turned in to REID 247 as soon as possible.
The deadline for getting them turned in is Friday March 28th at 5:00pm.

The fingerprint cards can be picked up in the Education Department in Reid. (I believe it is in REID 213, the Certification and Placement office, but i'm not positive)

So don't SLACK!

If you have any questions just get a hold of Cale VanVelkinburgh or myself (Gina Williams).

We also have an Application Meeting on Wednesday, March 5th, at 5:10pm. in Reid 105-DON'T MISS IT!!!

Hopefully your semesters are going well!!!

Praxis II

Hey everyone! Well, while I can say I was a little more terrified to start student teaching, I was also nervous about taking the Praxis. Yet like Tami said, you have had four years to prepare for it with all the multiple required English classes. Don't forget to look over the literary terms (I have a tendency to sometimes forget names) as there were some of these on the tests. Oh, I also remember there was one or two random questions about MLA citations. Overall, I didn't think it was too bad. Well, I'm off to come up with new ways to keep my sleepy sophmores awake...Wish me luck!

Praxis Practice and Help

I sent an email to Mary Anne Hansen, our wonderful Reference Librarian, to ask her help with any Praxis Information. She sent me back a link to the library's database section.
You need to click on the link below and then on "Testing and Education Reference Center."
You will need your library username and password to go further, if you are trying to access this from OFF-CAMPUS.
The link has practice tests and information that are current and relevant.

Praxis II Veteran

While I encourage you to do some studying to hone your English skills for the Praxis Exam, I want to also remind you that you have been preparing for it over the past four + years. I too thought that an extraordinary amount of hours needed to be logged into study before I approached the exam. As test time approached and I had done hardly any, besides the review of literary terms, I became ever more nervous. By this time it was too late to back out; I had already paid the money. My name was on THE LIST!
What did I find out? I WAS prepared. The classes you have been taking all these years will help you. Have faith in yourself and your accumulated knowledge, you will do just fine.
If you have any questions feel free to ask. =)

Praxis Prep

There are a couple of "praxis pros" around campus...those who have already passed the test. Tami Saxby, Karen Henderson, and everyone who is student teaching right now. Is anyone interested in organizing a workshop and inviting them to talk a bit about their experiences? Even though student teachers are "off limits" for MSUEEA service, they might still donate their time if we just ask! Or we could just invite them to the blog and offer some advice here. I'll be seeing Collin Salisbury and Nichole Lynn at Bozeman High on Friday, so I'll ask them.

Does the library have any of the PRAXIS workbooks or materials?

Glad to see due dates posted. Let's get more people registered for the blog!!
